A popular clothing and gift boutique in Edwards Walk, Maldon, is officially under new ownership as businesswoman Allison Gray moves on to a new challenge.

Willow & Fox originally opened at Quest Place, Maldon, in October 2018. Owner Allison had worked as a Human Resources Director in London, but after falling ill with meningitis, decided she wanted a better work-life balance.

Allison met new owner Jess Frost when she came in to buy a dress for a wedding. Jess became a regular customer, before going on to join Allison's team in 2021, shortly after Willow & Fox moved premises.

Jess told Nub News: "I've learned a lot from Allison and I'm excited to make her proud."

"She's like family," Allison added.

With experienced shopkeeper Jess taking over the business, Willow and Fox can remain part of Maldon High Street for the foreseeable future.

Allison said: "The fact it's going to remain here, with someone who's been involved in the business for so long, just makes it even more special."

The arrangement means Allison can now focus on her next challenge, studying Life Coaching. She aims to become a business coach or a counsellor.

Meanwhile, Jess plans to maintain Willow & Fox's good local reputation and continue to offer similar items that shoppers have come to associate with the store.

"I loved how the clothes made me feel when I was just a customer," Jess said.

Allison says the ethos of the Willow & Fox brand is to "make women feel good".

She said: "A lot of women struggle with body confidence, so we help them find the right outfits. We try to cater to all ages, too."

"Allison has built such a beautiful business – I just want to see it do really well," Jess added.

While Allison and Jess share very similar fashion tastes, Jess is expected to put her own stamp on the brand as she takes the reins. However, Allison will be on hand to support her friend and former employee as she takes her first steps in the business world.
