Burnham Art Club Exhibition of paintings (until Sunday 3 September)
Burnham Art Club Exhibition of paintings
Over a hundred paintings on show by talented members of Burnham Art Club every day from Saturday 26 August, at Burnham Museum.
Many of the Art Club Members take part in the Burnham Art Trail. The exhibition will feature a wide variety of subjects and media, figurative, landscapes, abstract, and marine scenes. They can be bought to take away, with cash or card.
There will also be unframed work and cards to buy. Free admission, browse or buy.
From Tuesday to Friday, it is open from 1.30pm until 5pm. Admission is via Coronation Road.
Maldon High Street-inspired portraits at Maeldune Heritage Centre, 11am to 4pm (ongoing)
Local artist Kathryn Hockey is displaying her Maldon-based portraits at an exhibition at the Maeldune Heritage Centre.
Kathryn's 'Looking Up' art show will feature portraits of Maldon High Street, made using Pen-and-wash Drawing. This is made using a pen to mark out an image, and then it is tinted with diluted ink or watercolour.
The exhibition will be open every week from Tuesday until Saturday, 11am to 4pm, until September 2. There will also be a private viewing on Friday 18 August from 6pm until 8pm.
Saturday 2 September
Cyanotype Workshop with Marion Sidebottom, Burnham-On-Crouch
Enjoy a two-hour session making beautiful sun prints of plants on paper in Burnham-On-Crouch this Saturday.
Participants will create photograms of plants using the cyanotype blue print process, which is a type of camera-less photography.
Big East triathlon event at Promenade Park, Maldon, from 1.50pm
The 'Big East' Middle Distance triathlon, involving a 1.5-kilometre tidal river swim, an 86-kilometre and a 20-kilometre run, is set to begin in Promenade Park, Maldon, this Saturday (September 2).
Organised by Active Training World (ATW), the race will begin in the afternoon, although competitors are encouraged to stay behind for the 'after-party'. In order to time the start with the high tide, the race will begin at 1.50pm, with registration opening at noon.
Due to the tidal flow, the swim leg has a strict cut-off time of 1 hour and 10 minutes. The overall event has a cut-off time of six hours.
Burnham Week firework finale, from 9pm
Burnham Week comes to an end this Saturday (September 2), after an action-packed week of sailing and family fun on the historic river Crouch.
Burnham Town Council describes the boat races as a "fascinating spectator sport", as the vessels must dodge mooring buoys as they jostle to the finish line.
A firework display will celebrate the end of the event, at 9pm.
Sunday 3 September
American Car Show at the Museum of Power, Langford
American and custom vehicles, stalls, music and entertainment will be on offer at the Museum of Power this Sunday (September 3).
Adult £9, Concessions £8, Children (5-15) £5, Under 5's Free
The museum's Miniature Railway will be open for rides - an extra charge applies. 'Astaria' Model Village will also be open - entry is free.
Activities will take place in the Marquee and in the grounds of the Museum. There may also be some disruption to the Steam Cafe but refreshments will still be available on site.
Maldon Outdoor Antiques & Vintage Fair at Promenade Park, from 9am
Enjoy an Antiques & Vintage Fair, overlooking the river at Maldon's Promenade Park, this Sunday (September 3).
Meet dealers and collectors selling a huge range of fantastic items.
The event is open from 9am. Admission is free.
