Police officers arrest driver following late night chase in Maldon

Essex Police officers arrested a driver suspected of possessing Class A drugs yesterday evening (May 5), after they refused to stop and were chased on foot.
While on patrol in Maldon, two officers spotted a vehicle which caught their attention. The driver initially refused to stop but then attempted to flee on foot. The officers caught up with the driver and arrested them on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
A spokesperson for Essex Police said: "Large quantities of cash and suspected drugs were recovered."
Meanwhile, during patrols in South Woodham Ferrers over the last couple of days, officers have encountered several children possessing of small amounts of drugs. The children reportedly used the drugs near two local schools.
An Essex Police spokesperson added: "This is not acceptable. We have a duty of care regarding children using drugs.
"They were taken home to their parents. The relevant referrals will take place."
