A new clothing store for men is opening on Burnham-on-Crouch High Street later this month, and is set to offer residents the range of men's clothing they have been missing.

Owner Kye Challis, 19, is transforming the building at 28a High Street - which was formerly the Burnham Tourist Information Centre - into a men's clothing store full of high-quality clothing at affordable prices.

Kye is hoping to open Challis Clothing Connection in the next couple of weeks, after successfully running the store online since June.

He said: "I recently moved to Burnham in June, which was when I opened my business online and it's picked up a lot since then.

He added: "My whole life has changed - I've gone out of my comfort zone.

"I'm really happy I've done it."

Kye, who previously worked in retail before welcoming a daughter into his family, wants to make shopping for clothes easy and enjoyable for men in the town.

He said: "You never see new shops for men and I want to change that.

"There's not such a variety of clothing and accessories in Burnham anymore, so I thought it would benefit the High Street."

He also wants his clothing to cater for all customers.

"The reason why I opened my business is because I'm not a large lad but I'm not a skinny lad, so when I go into shops I find it difficult to figure out what size I am in the jeans," he said.

"That's what my family always struggled with - if they had to go and pick something up for me from the shop they always struggled because it would either never fit me or it would be too tight or too big.

"I want to deliver clothing which comes in different sizes and is affordable but also great quality."

Quality is a top priority for Kye, who said that he often goes into shops and finds that the clothing is not "100 per cent quality".

He added: "That's what I want when I go shopping, so that's what I want my customers to feel when they come to shop with me.

"I like the clothing to still be affordable to suit everyone's budget and there is a bit of everything which suits different ages."

Having a shop on the High Street is a dream come true for Kye, and will enable him to expand his stock even further.

"Everything happens for a reason," he said.

"All I did was pop in to one of my customers on the High Street who had bought some clothes from me, they told me about the shop, I viewed it and got it - it all happened really quickly."

He is hoping to open Challis Clothing Connection, at 28a High Street, in mid-November and will be offering 10 per cent off all products in the shop and online for its opening.

"That's going to be for all customers to welcome them, and I'll be down on the day chatting to people and serving them to celebrate."

You can find Challis Clothing Connection online here - new lines of stock will be added when the shop opens on the High Street.
