The organisers of the Great Burnham Bonfire have launched a competition to encourage residents to get involved in the celebrations this weekend.

St Mary's Church, on Church Road in Burnham, is looking to find the best-dressed DIY Guy Fawkes in the town to take centre stage on top of its bonfire this year.

Residents are invited to come down to St Mary's Green at 4pm tomorrow (Friday 5 November) to be judged.

A spokesperson for the church said: "Winning Guy gets pride of place on top of the bonfire the following day."

The competition is open to anyone under 12 years of age.

Gates will open at 6pm on Saturday (6 November) for the Great Burnham Bonfire - the fire will be lit at around 6.30pm and there will be fireworks from 7pm.

There is no entry fee, but it is recommended to attendees to bring along one big firework - not boxes.

Sparklers are not allowed.

There will be food and drink to enjoy from local businesses during the evening.

If you have any questions, you can contact the organisers at [email protected].
