Tributes have been paid to a 'dearly loved' father who died after the car he was travelling in became partially submerged in a pond in Southminster.

Barry Turner, 46, from St Lawrence, was found alongside Stephen Bayford, 32, from Southminster, inside a BMW 4 Series Coupe in a pond off the B1021 Tillingham Road in Asheldham at 8.15am on Tuesday 21 September.

The two men were sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers believe that the car was travelling in the direction of Tillingham when it left the road near its junction with Foxhall Road.

Paying tribute, Barry's family said: "Barry was a dearly loved son, brother, uncle and dad, and also a friend to everyone that knew him.

"He worked as a scaffolder and enjoyed jet-skiing, speed boats, judo and football.

"All his family and friends will miss Barry very much.

"We ask to be left alone and allowed to grieve at this very difficult time."

Enquiries remain ongoing to establish the circumstances behind the collision.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on [email protected].
