Car plunged into pond in Southminster following serious collision

Traffic disruption continues this afternoon after a car plunged into a pond following a serious collision in Southminster.

Residents report that Tillingham Road, from Moorhill Kennels to Pig Corner, remains closed following the incident which occured this morning.

They said that police have advised that the road will remain closed for most of the day, and possibly into tomorrow.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said: "We are investigating a serious collision in Southminster.

"A vehicle left Southminster Road this morning and has become submerged in a pond.

"We are currently carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances which led up to the collision and these are ongoing.

"If you witnessed the incident or saw a grey BMW 4 Series Sport Coupe driving in the area early this morning, please call our Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101.

"The incident number to quote is 208 of Tuesday 21 September.
