May & Baker 2, Burnham Ramblers 2
The point earned by Ramblers away to fellow title challengers May and Baker, who were playing their first home league match since August, was enough to see them stay top of the Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties First Division South after the weekend's fixtures.
At the end of Friday's match at Aveley's Parkside ground Ramblers felt they ought to have taken all the points, particularly after a first half which they dominated and spurned many chances.
The one that did count came after 18 minutes when Ben Wood played a great diagonal ball to Albert Galbally who delivered it into the box and Samir put it in the back of the net.
For the remainder of the half Burnham had most of the play and chances and looked very dangerous but as they went into the interval with just one goal supporters wondered if their profligacy in front of goal might cost them.
And so it proved as May and Baker got back on level terms on 54 minutes with a headed goal from Jamie Marsh.
Ramblers were back in front on the hour when Taylor Banks was fouled in the box and Adebolu Adeyemi converted the subsequent penalty.
But a second penalty, at the other end awarded for a handball by Grant Webb saw Abidemi Lamina restore parity and that's how it stayed – though Ramblers believed they should have had the game's third penalty in the 90th minute but their claims were waved away.
