Tring won 5-3 on penalties

RAMBLERS' FA Vase journey came to an end in a penalty shoot-out after the sides were level after 90 minutes at the Grass Roots stadium on Saturday (12 November).

They converted the first three kicks but Joe Howard's effort was saved by home keeper Oscar Frost and Leo Farruch slotted home to make it a full house for Tring and passage into Monday's third round draw.

It was a match Burnham will have felt they should have won in normal time, particularly after taking an early lead.

Ramblers got off to a dream start with a penalty after only five minutes, converted by Adebolu Adyemi.

The visitors thought they had doubled their lead eight minutes later but the referee had already blown his whistle before the ball hit the net. Midway through the half they went close from a free kick when a header went just wide of the post.

Tring offered few threats and another chance when begging to extend the lead before half time when Shemarie Perkins shot just wide and then should have done better when he seized on a defensive error to set up a 2 on 1 situation but he failed to hit the target

Tring upped their game in the second half but despite having more possession they were finding it difficult to crack Burnham's tough defence.

An equalising goal finally arrived in the 72nd minute. Leo Farruch slipped a pass through to Frankie Hercules who capped a fine game by tucking the ball home.

There was heartache near the end for Ramblers when Jack Griggs smashed a shot from way out which struck the bar.

It was the last chance and the game went to penalties.
