Burnham Ramblers have made it to the first round proper of the FA Vase for the first time in five years and they will entertain Ely City after being pulled out of the hat first in today's draw (Monday, 26 September).

Ramblers came through Saturday's qualifying round with a 3-0 win at Cornard United, where they were helped by the fact that the hosts were reduced to ten men after just 20 minutes.

The dismissal came when Albert Galbally pressed Cornards keeper into making a bad touch and after getting the ball be was brought down when a goalscoring opportunity clearly beckoned.

Despite the extra man and having a decent amount of pressure, Burnham couldn't make the advantage count immediately and the sides went into the break goalless.

However, the deadlock was broken on 52 minutes when Galbally whipped in a corner which fell to Louis Pollock who volleyed home.

The win was all but sealed when Liam Barry scored on 82 minutes with a shot into the top left corner and just to make sure, with two minutes to go Shemarie Perkins finished off a one-on-one.

The win was worth £750 and there is a guaranteed £250 as losers in the next round, but Eastern Counties League Division One South Town will be aiming to take the £850 on offer for a win when they seek a giant-killing act against Ely City from the Eastern Counties Premier on Saturday, 22 October.
