William de Ferrers School is celebrating its GCSE students who received their results today, after the second year of Covid-19 disruption to exams.

The school, on Trinity Row in South Woodham Ferrers, hosted a socially-distanced results morning where staff were able to congratulate students after a challenging year which saw them studying at home during lockdowns.

Students' results were determined by teachers, based on work they produced throughout their course, after secondary school exams were cancelled for the second year in a row due to Covid-19. These grades were moderated and assessed by external exam boards which awarded the final grades.

A spokesperson for the school said: "Every Mid-Essex secondary school adopted a meticulous approach toward the Teacher Assessed Grades over a very short period of time in which students undertook assessments in schools to support this process.

"The pressure on our young people was relentless. We are delighted with the successes of all students."

Some notable performances where students achieved the highest grades include: Lola Booth, Ria Butler, Abigail Harverson, Zoe Cook, Jack Biba, Louise Smart, Abbie Wakefield, Charis Williamson, Finley Crisp, Rebecca Stone, Joshua Ewers, Ruby Quinton-Holt, Reece Stuttle, Tom Hickman, Megan Birch, Emily Harris, Jude McNab, Nader Emam, Ameena Sadikot, Caitlyn Tibbs, Charlize Ayling, Will Everitt, Liam Stuttle, Callum Daly, Olivia Short, Zoe Brailey, Joshua English, and Jennifer Brough.

The spokesperson said: "The staff at William de Ferrers school congratulate our students and of course all the students across the county for what they have achieved and wish them every success as they progress onto the next stage of their education, employment or training.

"We are incredibly proud that our students are able now to celebrate the commitment and determination to their studies which now open the doors to their next steps in education.

"We look forward to welcoming students back to continue their studies with us in the Sixth Form."
