A popular gaming initiative has confirmed its return to Maldon with two pop-up sessions over the Christmas holidays.

Power of Gaming is offering two four-hour gaming sessions this month for eligible secondary school children in the Maldon district, as part of the Essex ActivAte programme.

It follows the relaunch of the project by the Maldon and District Community Voluntary Service (CVS) with a five-hour session at the Maldon Christmas Festival last month.

The project was previously run by Aztec Gaming, on Maldon High Street, but took a break during the pandemic.

Now led by Maldon and District CVS, it aims to provide a safe social space for young people in Maldon to share their interest in gaming, build skills and social connections and try new things.

The pop-up sessions will be held at Maldon Town Hall, on Market Hill, from 9.30am on Thursday 23 December and Wednesday 29 December.

A spokesperson for the Power of Gaming said participants will be able to "take part in a range of gaming activities across a variety of consoles from Playstation to Xbox and all of the retro classics".

They continued: "There will be something for everyone to try - we will even get you getting up and active with the Nintendo Wii."

The event is free to attend.
