Great Burnham Bonfire organisers on the lookout for volunteers as 'the countdown begins'
Organisers of the Great Burnham Bonfire are seeking volunteers to help the town celebrate bonfire night this year.
The free event, hosted by the Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin in Burnham-on-Crouch, was cancelled last year due to the pandemic.
The display is returning this year to light up the town, and is set to take place on the evening of Saturday, 6 November.
Members of the church are now looking for volunteers from the local community to help build the fire and set off the fireworks - including first aiders.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the church said: "And the countdown begins.
"In order for this event to take place, we have always relied on volunteers from the local community to help build the fire on the Friday and to help on the Saturday evening.
"We particularly need first aiders and people to help set off the fireworks."
Fire building will begin at 9am on the Friday (5 November) while the safety briefing for the event will take place at 5pm on the Saturday (6 November).
If you are able to help, please email [email protected].
The Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin can be found on Church Road in Burnham-on-Crouch.
