A WOMAN who is walking the coast of the British Isles is currently walking around the Dengie Peninsula - in aid of Alzheimer's Research UK.

Amazing Karen Penny, aged 55, is walking the entire coast of the British Isles, including Ireland and all of the islands. She has been walking for two years and has now reached the Dengie, having walked 8,500 miles so far.

Karen has raised a remarkable £82,000 for the charity, having lost two dear family members to the cruel disease.

Karen's walk has made national press and television and when she finishes in Shetland in a year's time, she will be the first person to complete this enormous journey.

Karen's for walk for the next few days:

-Today (Thursday, 20 May): Burnham-on-Crouch to Bradwell-on-Sea

-Friday, 21 May: Bradwell-on-Sea to Maylandsea

Saturday, 22 May: Maylandsea to Goldhanger via Maldon

Sunday, 23 May: Goldhanger to Salcott.

Nub News will be catching up with Karen in the coming days to find out how she fared on her Dengie Peninsula leg of the trip - and what she thought of the unique landscape, too.
