LISTENERS to Caroline Community Radio 94.7 FM may recognise a familiar voice on the station's new recorded identities.

It's none other than TV celebrity hypnotist, best-selling author and regular Radio Caroline guest DJ Paul McKenna.

"Having recorded new station idents for our friends at Radio Caroline recently, Paul was only too happy to record a set for Caroline Community Radio - and we are very pleased with the results," said station manager Pete Crisp.

An 'ident' is a short voice-over music backing used to identify a radio station and presenter listeners are tuned in to.

Paul was a Radio Caroline presenter on the radio ship Ross Revenge in the 80s. After a number of years in radio he moved into TV in the 90s with 'The Hypnotic World of Paul McKenna' and 'Paul McKenna's Paranormal World'. A successful author, too, he has published many self-help books on subjects such as quitting smoking and slimming.

Paul regularly broadcasts on Radio Caroline from the station's radio ship Ross Revenge on the River Blackwater during monthly broadcasts and from Caroline's main Kent studios. He hopes to return to the ship next month for the first offshore broadcast since lockdown. The Radio Caroline presenters and crew go out to the ship from Bradwell Marina.

You can tune in to Caroline Community Radio on 94.7FM in the Maldon District and on the Essex coast, and online through the website at the link here.
