Essex Police has released images of two men they want to question after a substance was poured on part of Lower Burnham Road, causing a risk to road users.

The incident took place near Cold Norton on Sunday 17 September, at around 9.30pm. A substance was left covering an area of the road surface, causing it to become slippery.

A previous incident reportedly took place in the same location on Tuesday 12 September.

It resulted in a risk to road users, prompting officers to launch an investigation into both incidents.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said: "If you can help us identify these men or have any information or footage in relation to this incident, then please get in contact with us.

"Please quote crime report 42/167807/23 when providing any information, to make sure it gets to the right person as quickly as possible."

Earlier this month, Essex Highways responded to renewed calls for changes to the junction at Lower Burnham Road, following another collision on September 1.

Two vehicles collided near the junction between Lower Burnham Road and Fambridge Road/B1010 shortly after 6.30am.

The recent spate of incidents, including a fatal collision last month, has intensified residents' calls for something to be done about the accident hotspot.
