Essex Police's Operational Support Group - tasked with providing extra foot patrols over the Easter weekend - were able to provide help on the ground in the search for a missing nine-year-old in Burnham-on-Crouch today (Sunday, 4 April).

Essex Police announced just after 5.30pm that the boy - who had been reported missing earlier in the afternoon - had been found.

A police helicopter and a collection of police teams were involved in the emergency in the town, which ended with the happy news that the child had been found.

In a Tweet, Essex OSG said :"Whilst on foot patrol in Burnham we assisted with searching for a missing child.

"Teamwork paid off - missing child located safe and well."

In a Facebook post, the Maldon Police team also thanked members of the public for their help.
