The annual Burnham-on-Crouch Christmas Tree Festival is set to get residents into the festive spirit this weekend, after the popular event was unable to go ahead as usual last year due to the pandemic.

Burnham United Reformed Church, at 53 Station Road, will be holding the Christmas Tree Festival from Friday (3 December) to Sunday (5 December).

Burnham organisations and residents have submitted creative Christmas trees for the festival, with encouragement from organisers to be as artistic and inventive as they like - and submissions remain open for those still keen to enter a tree.

The trees will be displayed from switch-on on Friday until Sunday, when the festival will end with mass.

The festival, which has been running since 2013, could not take place in the church last year due to the pandemic.

The trees were instead displayed outside Bistro on the Quay, with a few in the windows of the church, so that residents and local businesses could still take part in the much-loved festival.

The schedule for the weekend is as follows:

- Friday, 3 December, 6.30pm - 9.30pm: Entertainment, mulled wine, hot chocolate and mince pies

- Saturday, 4 December, 1pm - 7pm: Light lunches and refreshments

- Sunday, 5 December, 2pm - 4pm: Tea, coffee and refreshments

The trees will be available to view across all three days.

To enter a tree, you can message the Burnham United Reformed Church here.
