The team behind the proposed nuclear site for Bradwell B updated community representatives on the project this week.

Members of the team held a community forum on Tuesday (2 November) in efforts to establish ongoing dialogue about the development of the project between its developer, local communities and organisations.

Those at the forum were given an update on the project and the Generic Design Assessment of the UK HPR1000 - the reactor technology proposed for Bradwell B.

Members also discussed news from the nuclear sector over the past year.

Olivia White, senior communications manager for Bradwell B, said: "The community forum is one of the key ways we inform and listen to the community about the project.

"We are grateful to the forum members for giving up a part of their evening to attend.

"We hope that they found it useful and interesting.

"There were many questions for our presenters, which is exactly what we hoped it would achieve."

CGN and French energy giant EDF are partners in the Bradwell B Power Generation Company, which has been formed to develop Bradwell B.

The site is proposed for Bradwell-on-Sea in the Maldon district.

At the meeting, which was the last of the year following two previous forums in March and June, members looked at the socioeconomic impacts of the proposed site, which included input from the South East Local Enterprise Partnership.

Olivia added: "In this meeting we were joined by the South East Local Enterprise Partnership, who work to drive growth and create jobs in the region.

"Bradwell B will create tens of thousands of jobs through construction.

"We will be working with local, regional and national organisations to understand how we can plan for this workforce and ensure we have the right skills, in the right place at the right time."

Notes from the meeting and presentations will be uploaded to Bradwell B's website www.bradwellb.co.uk in the next few days.
