There is now under one month left for residents to have their say on Maldon District Council's financial plans for the 2022/23 year.

The council launched the public consultation in July to ask for residents and businesses' views on how the council should use its resources.

A spokesperson for the council said that the survey comes in the context of a squeeze on council budgets across the country due to projected reductions in funding and rising costs.

The spokesperson said: "It is therefore vital that the council's limited resources are used effectively."

Questions in the survey cover topics such as the council's priorities, ideas for saving money and generating income, cost-effective payment methods and possible changes to council tax support.

The survey also asks for views on a proposed £5 a year increase in council tax.

A spokesperson for the council said: "This increase, which equates to just 10 pence per week, would help the council to maintain services in the future, given the challenges with rising prices and the reduction in the council's funding."

The council is appealing for as many people as possible to complete the survey, which ends on 10 September.

The 2022/23 budget is due to be approved in February 2022, along with the council's financial plan.

The survey can be accessed by using the link here.
