The Essex Vaccination Van is holding three pop-up clinics in Burnham at the start of February, so residents can access the Covid vaccine closer to home.

The van will be parked at Burnham Station House on Thursday 3, Saturday 5 and Monday 7 February to offer vaccines to anyone who has not yet received a first, second or booster dose.

The Maldon and District Community Voluntary Service (MDCVS) is working alongside the Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust, Greater Anglia, Longfields Medical Centre, Burnham Town Council, Burnham Surgery and the Community Rail Partnership to deliver the clinics.

Sarah Troop, director of MDCVS, said: "We are offering a range of times and asking people to book an hour slot although walk-ins will be accepted.

"We hope that this service will offer people living in Burnham and the surrounding area an opportunity to access the vaccine closer to their homes.

"If successful, more pop-ups will be organised."

Here's the details for each pop-up clinic:

  • Thursday, 3 February - hour slots from 10am to 1pm
  • Saturday, 5 February - hour slots from 8am to 12pm
  • Monday, 7 February - hour slots from 1pm to 5pm

The Mid and South Essex Health Care Partnership's Essex Vax Van - a specially converted Ford Transit van - was designed to maximise uptake of Covid vaccines across the county, working with community leaders to deliver vaccines in areas of low uptake.

It has been shortlisted as a finalist for the "most impactful project addressing healthcare inequalities" by the HSJ Partnership Awards in recognition of its outstanding contribution to healthcare.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony at Westminster Park Plaza in London on 24 March.
