Firefighters from Burnham-on-Crouch were among the organisations who helped to simulate a fire on Osea Island for a training exercise last week (Wednesday, 6 October).

The exercise was completed in order to help the emergency services prepare for a fire during high tide.

Fire crews from Burnham, Maldon and Tillingham worked alongside the Essex Police, Maritime and Coastguard Agency and RNLI to complete the training.

In a statement, Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said: "We regularly train with our partners to help us prepare for a variety of incidents and how we can work together to keep you safe.

"Firefighters from Burnham-on-Crouch Fire Station, Maldon Fire Station and Tillingham Fire Station who took part in this exercise are on-call firefighters who all live or work within five minutes of an on-call fire station."

"If you live or work within five minutes of an on-call fire station, you could be paid to protect your community as an on-call firefighter."

You can find out more about the role using the link here.

Burnham-on-Crouch Fire Station can be found at 17 Albert Road.
