Maldon Ukulele Festival at The Sunny Sailor, Maldon: Saturday at 12.30pm

  • The 4th Maldon Ukulele Festival will be held at The Sunny Sailor, in Fullbridge, Maldon.
  • Nine local bands will be taking part.

Free Bowls Sessions at Maldon Promenade Park, Saturday-Sunday 13-14 August, 9am to 1pm

  • As part of the legacy surrounding the Commonwealth Games and in partnership with Bowls England and Disability Bowls England, Promenade Park aims to give more people the opportunity to try bowls.
  • It is a sport that people of all ages and abilities can actively enjoy recreationally through to elite competition all year round.
  • Commonwealth Games Bowls Community Activators will be delivering these fun, informal and inclusive sessions.

A Time for Essex at Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome, Purleigh: Sunday 14 August, 10am until 4pm

  • This hugely popular, multi-period Living History, Museum and Air Display event gives us the opportunity to make the most of the rich cultural history of the County.
  • Our dog friendly and accessible site welcomes everyone to enjoy a day celebrating the heritage of Essex.
  • On offer will be vintage aircraft flying (if weather permits), living history demonstrations, aircraft in hangars, and interactive exhibitions including the new Guiding the Empire and Words Without Wires.
  • The Airmen's Mess cafe will open for hot and cold food, drinks and cakes and the BBQ will be fired up.
  • The shop will be open selling a wide range of gifts and souvenirs.
  • Tickets for juniors (6-15 years) cost £10, adult tickets (16+ years) cost £20, while children 5 years old or younger have free admission. Ticket price includes parking and access to the exhibitions.
  • Tickets must be bought in advance and can be purchased on the Stow Maries website.
