THAMES sailing barge Hydrogen became stranded on the mud close to Maldon's Promenade Park this morning (Sunday, 1 August).

The cause of the incident is not yet confirmed and this report will be updated when more is certain.

Some passengers on board the vessel were removed by boat after she ploughed into the mud at around 7.15am this morning.

According to the Topsail Charters website, Hydrogen was scheduled for a one-day trip on the Blackwater.

Topsail Charters has been approached for comment.
