A man from Burnham on Crouch is subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) obtained by Essex Police.

The forced believes Mahmun Miah, 33 of no fixed address, poses a risk to vulnerable people in the town.

He was given an SHPO on Thursday, 19 October for a period of 10 years.

Detective Sergeant Ben Rushmere from the Essex Proactive Investigation Team said: "The police do so much more than just turning up to crime scenes and investigating matters which have been reported to us.

"Catching criminals needs a proactive approach as well as a reactive one and our team are constantly monitoring concerns within a community to keep people safe.

"In this recent case, we understood that the community, specifically parents in the community were concerned about this man. In instances where we cannot pursue a criminal conviction, we think it's important to use all the tools at our disposal to keep people safe.

"This order means that he is unable to have any unsupervised contact with any female under 18 years, use the internet to contact any female under the age of 18 years old and prevents him from offering gifts, alcohol and/or cigarettes to any female under the age of 18 years old.

"This will ensure young girls are safe from his predatory behaviour."
