A FORMER golf course could be transformed into a leisure park with cabins and caravan pitches for holidaymakers.

The plans by Swingfield Limited for Swingfield Family Golf Centre, in Steeple Road, Latchingdon, include 20 touring caravan or motorhome grass pitches and 20 static caravan pitches, on concrete bases.

The site is approximately 11 acres and currently has a large driving range. If agreed, 12 holiday cabins would also be built from the existing driving range buildings, and the club's reception would be turned into a cafe.

It comes as the village is seeing significant growth after plans for hundreds of homes in the area were agreed, which have been highly controversial.

But resident Emma Willis, 43, welcomed the plans for the site. She said: "It'd be good to see this site be back in use. The rural setting lends itself so well to this sort of thing and it would be very popular."
