Plans for 200-plus new homes and a community building as an extension of a retirement village in Burnham-on-Crouch will be decided on by Maldon District Council next week.
Back on 8 October last year, Maldon District Council approved design details on a retirement development on land north-west of 2, Maldon Road. This new application proposes a substantial "extension" on land 250 metres north of 16A Maldon Road.
The plans will be debated at a District Planning Committee at a meeting on Wednesday, 9 June, because of the size of the proposed development.
The council's planning officers have recommended approval with conditions, including a 'Section 106' agreement that would mean the developers would need to contribute towards infrastructure.
The application asks for outline planning permission for an additional 132 one, two and three-bedroom bungalows, 100 one, two, and three-bedroom apartments in two-storey buildings and a single-storey multi-use community building. The outline plans don't include much detail at this stage, but do include estate roads, footpaths and vehicle parking, allotments and hard and soft landscaping.
A total of 127 letters of objection to the application have been received by Maldon District Council. Burnham-on-Crouch Town Council, as consultee, has recommended refusal of the plans.
