The Datum Attitude Brewing Co., a Tollesbury-based nano brewery, has applied to convert an office building into a 'tap room' for customers to enjoy freshly brewed beers and snacks.

'The Blackwater Tap', as it is set to be known, will have a large selection of craft beers and fine wines. Datum Attitude intends to brew taproom-exclusive beers, "with an ever-changing beer and wine list to create a truly unique space in Tollesbury".

The property in West Street, Tollesbury, will feature indoor and outdoor seating areas, along with an electric bike charging point.

Founded by husband-and-wife Samuel Morris, a former RAF serviceman, and Amy, a solicitor, Datum Attitude started out as a hobby before opening as a business in 2021. It currently produces small batches of beer which are predominantly sold online and at local events.

In their Design & Access Statement, the applicants said: "There is a number of existing consumers locally who have shown interest in attending a tap room to try the variety of products."

The proposed layout aims to accommodate between 10 and 14 people all-year-round, with additional external seating available in the summer months.

The application can be viewed here, and is currently pending consideration by Maldon District Council.
