Young sea cadets in Maldon have become the grateful recipients of a new minibus this month, thanks to a generous donation from the Maldon Rotary Club.

Members of the Maldon and District Sea Cadets - which includes Burnham-on-Crouch and the Dengie - can now use the minibus to easily attend naval college together in London each week.

Maldon Rotary Club donated £16,000 to the organisation to finance the minibus.

James Howard, a member of Maldon Rotary Club, said: "It was a long-term project.

"Maldon Sea Cadets is a fantastic organisation that around 100 youngsters attend."

The organisation offers a range of activities to young people, including sailing, windsurfing, powerboating, rock climbing, camping and music.

It also enables its members to gain different qualifications that they can take with them to help with applying for jobs.
