Maldon Splash Park will not reopen until 2022, Maldon District Council (MDC) confirmed today.

In a statement, MDC said: "It is with great sadness that we can confirm that the Maldon Splash Park will not reopen for the rest of this season, but we will be back in 2022.

"We appreciate that this will be extremely disappointing to many of you, but due to unforeseen circumstances, including staff illness and mechanical issues, we are unable to reopen the Splash Park this season.

"Any customers with bookings will be notified and refunded, including those who had booked a Beach Hut and were planning to visit the Splash Park as well."

The Splash Park, which is located in Promenade Park, is popular with families in the district.

Councillor Wendy Stamp, leader of MDC, said: "The Splash Park is a well-loved and well-used facility, so we understand that this will be a huge disappointment for all those families who had been looking forward to visiting.

"We hope that you will visit us again next year".

The Maldon beach huts will remain open until the end of September and can be booked online using the link here.
