Maldon MP Sir John Whittingdale accompanied Lord Stephen Parkinson, Arts and Heritage Minister, on a visit to Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome over the weekend.

Last Saturday (September 30), Sir John and his fellow Minister from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS), Lord Parkinson of Whitley Bay, explored the historic First World War aerodrome.

The pair was given a tour of the site by CEO Ian Flint and Trustee Sir John Aldridge. They also met volunteers and members of the Nimy Company 4RF Living History Group, who teach young people about the First World War.

Sir John said: "I was delighted Lord Parkinson could see Stow Maries and the fantastic exhibits displayed there.

"We are lucky to have such a historic and atmospheric site in the District which is of national importance. We discussed how we can raise awareness and best support the Aerodrome going forward."

Last Friday, the Maldon MP joined Town Mayor Andrew Lay for a Macmillan Coffee Morning at Maldon Town Hall. The event raised over £730 for the cancer charity.
