A dramatic police chase involving dogs and a helicopter took place in Maldon district yesterday after a car failed to stop.

Maldon police tried to stop the Fiesta, but the car drove on until the driver crashed it before trying to get away.

Following help from Essex Police dog section and the police helicopter, there was a successful outcome to the chase.

In a Tweet, the Maldon police team said: "They were uninsured, had no licence and had drugs in their possession. The driver was arrested for a string of offences. #Teamwork"
