A youth club has recently launched in St Lawrence, providing young people in the Dengie with a place to socialise and enjoy their free time.

With an ever-expanding population in the district, more young people will need places to hang out, so residents have a youth club dedicated to those in the Dengie.

'BASE @ St Lawrence Bay' is aimed at youngsters aged between 9 and 16 years. The club meets on Friday evenings between 6pm and 7.30pm, at the Village Hall.

A block of four sessions booked in advance costs £5, although parents can opt for the 'pay as you go' option for £6 per session.

Entry includes access to a snooker table, air hockey table, football table, table tennis and a dartboard. Meanwhile, video gamers can enjoy a PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Wii on the club's 50-inch TV.

There is even a tuck shop, run by volunteer Pauline. (Photo: BASE @ St Lawrence Bay)

A range of outdoor sports is also available, weather permitting, with bi-weekly sessions from visitors:

  • Football coaching
  • Boxing coaching
  • Snooker pro sessions
  • Bike life skills sessions
  • Essex Fire and Rescue talks

Booking in advance is advisable. Parents must register their child with the club before they are able to attend.

To book a place, visit the BASE @ St Lawrence website.
