Local photographer's amazing pictures of filming for The Essex Serpent at The Hythe in Maldon

Here are some amazing shots from the filming at The Hythe in Maldon yesterday (Thursday, 25 March) - all taken by talented local photographer Paula Wiseman.

You can scroll through 10 of the top scenes here from the filming for The Essex Serpent, a TV drama based on Sarah Perry's award-winning novel.

The Essex Serpent follows newly widowed Cora (played by Claire Danes) who, having been released from an abusive marriage, relocates from Victorian London to the small village of Aldwinter in Essex, intrigued by a local superstition that a mythical creature known as the Essex Serpent has returned to the area.

Filming also took place in Silver Street, Maldon, yesterday, with scenes filmed at The Blue Boar pub.

The drama will be aired on Apple TV - most likely in the autumn, though dates are yet to be confirmed.
