The Maldon Liberal Democrats have announced their candidates standing across Maldon and the Dengie in the upcoming local elections on Thursday, 6 May.

For the Essex County Council elections James Eley will be standing for the Southminster seat.

In other local elections across the district, the Lib Dem candidates will be as follows:

-Colin Baldy: Maldon seat on Essex County Council

-John Driver: John will be standing for the Heybridge & Tollesbury seat on Essex County Council, as well as the vacant Heybridge seat on Maldon Distrtict Council

-Robert Jones: Robert will be standing for the vacant Tollesbury seat on Maldon District Council.

Colin Baldy, Chair of the Maldon Liberal Democrats said: "I'm delighted that we have a great mix of local candidates standing in the upcoming elections.

"Over the last few years our party has gone from strength to strength locally: tripling our vote share in the most recent general election and having a fantastic team of people, all of whom are exceptionally active in our local community as business people and volunteers."

He continued: "We are exceptionally proud that our petition to stop the eviction of Maldon Yacht Club attracted more than 2,000 signatures and played a key role in the club now retaining their current home on the river front. Our next big focus is on the Maldon Health Hub which has been repeatedly

delayed for the last 20 years.

With all these new houses, both in Maldon and on the Dengie, all of our candidates firmly believe that there is now no excuse not to deliver the suitable infrastructure to handle them! That applies to roads, doctors, schools and all public provisions."

Nub News will be bringing you news of all the candidates, both independent and from all political parties, as and when the information becomes available over the coming days.
