The organisers of the Christina's Legacy Christmas Market in Heybridge last Sunday (November 27) have thanked the public for braving the weather to enjoy some festive fun.

Christina's Legacy - set up by the family of Christina "Tina" Hunt, a Heybridge resident who died from oesophageal cancer - aims to support those living with the disease.

Following the event, Kye Challis, Christina's nephew, told Nub News: "It was a really great day, even though we faced many challenges with the weather. We pulled together, and we got it sorted.

"It was so overwhelming for us all to see that we actually pulled it off.

"All our months of hard work and had finally paid off.

"The stall holders were lovely and so understanding about the weather and worked with us.

"Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and I'd like to say a massive 'thank you' to all the business and people who helped on the day.

"There were plenty of festivities and the pipe band was a huge hit!

"It was a little frustrating with the weather but that was out of our control.

It was hoped Edwards Show Vehicles would bring eight vehicles for the public to view, including an authentic Only Fools and Horses van and Mr Bean's famous Mini. However, the weather meant that had to be cancelled.

Despite that, Kye and his family are happy with the overall success of the event.

He continued: "We had a great turnout! A really good day was had by all, and we can't wait for the next event."
