Hearing Help restarts in-person sessions in Burnham
A charity dedicated to helping people with hearing loss has announced its in-person sessions are running again in Burnham, after they were temporarily postponed due to Covid.
Hearing Help Essex, a Chelmsford-based charity, is holding its NHS hearing aid maintenance sessions by appointment at the Burnham Clinic on 33 Crouch Road.
The monthly sessions must be booked in advance by getting in touch with the charity to allow for social distancing, and the team cannot accept walk-ins.
A spokesperson for Hearing Help said: "We have worked hard in making provision to resume our services in a safe and socially-distanced environment to support the many people across Essex who have acquired hearing loss and wear NHS hearing aids.
"Hearing aids need cleaning regularly and retubing every four to six months, and we have a friendly team on hand who are able to assist with essential retubing, cleaning and general hearing aid maintenance.
"If your hearing aids are due maintenance - if the tubing is brittle, cracked, blocked, or damaged - please get in touch to book an appointment."
If you are unable to attend an in person session, someone else can bring the hearing aids to the appointment on your behalf.
The charity also provides an information, advice and guidance service to Essex residents, which is being delivered from its resource centre in Chelmsford and can be accessed in person, by phone, video call, text or email.
The charity has a doorstep service for those who are housebound, shielding or immobile.
The spokesperson added: "As usual our service remains completely free of charge, but as a small charity working hard to support Essex residents living with hearing loss, all donations are appreciated."
To get in touch with Hearing Help and to book an NHS hearing aid maintenance session with the team, call 01245 496347, text 07950 406173 or email [email protected].
