IF you have a community project that you'd like to get off the ground in Burnham or the Dengie - or an existing one that needs a boost - then you could be eligible for a grant of up to £1,000.

A new scheme offering 'Livewell' grants of up to £1,000 for community projects anywhere in Maldon district has been announced today - with applications welcomed from Monday, 19 July.

The projects should be "engaging and accessible and meet the needs of the people of the district" and focus on the key 'Livewell' themes, including:

-Obesity and Physical Activity

-Social Isolation and Older People's Health

-Mental Health

The Livewell grant money can be used to start a new project or breathe new life into an existing one. The hope is that the funding will allow the project to be sustainable in the future.

You can be considered for support from the Maldon District Livewell Grant scheme if you are a:

-voluntary or community organisation

-registered charity

-constituted group or club

-not-for-profit company or Community Interest Company (CIC).

A spokesperson for Maldon District Council said: "As we continue our social and economic recovery from Covid-19 we want to support the health and wellbeing of our residents and communities as much as possible.

"We are also keen to fund projects that will support community recovery activity."

Approved projects should start for mid-September. Feedback on the success of projects given a grant will be requested at the end of its duration - but will simply focus on what worked well, what didn't work so well, and scope for the future.

To make an application to the Maldon District Livewell Grants, please follow the link to the application form here or send a video/audio recording or PowerPoint outlining the project and addressing the application questions to [email protected]
