A Dengie business is planning exciting events for its staff this Breast Cancer Awareness Month, in order to raise money for those affected by the disease.

Burnham-on-Crouch resident Bonnie Smith is arranging two fundraising events to take place this month at Dengie Crops, a manufacturer based in Southminster, for Breast Cancer Now.

The charity provides world-class research and life-changing care for people affected by breast cancer, alongside their families and friends.

Bonnie said: "I'm arranging for there to be two separate events on Friday 22 and Tuesday 26 October to allow for both rotating night and day shift staff to be able to take part.

"We will have a choice of food - hotpot, chilli, jacket potatoes and hotdogs."

There will be a range of games to play, including "splat the rat" and "find the treasure", a cake sale and a tombola full of prizes kindly donated by businesses across the district.

So far, the businesses who have donated prizes are Pelican Prints, Grey and Co, Bev's Bucket, Sewn Personally For You, Co-op and Maldon Morrisons.

Bonnie said: "This has really highlighted the kindness and generosity of the local area and small local businesses."

Dengie Crops is also getting behind Wear It Pink Day, on Friday 22 October, when Bonnie will be encouraging staff to get involved by wearing anything pink and selling pink wristbands.

The day is Breast Cancer Now's flagship funding event and aims to raise awareness and money to make life-saving research and care happen.
