Burnham Town Council announces Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations

Burnham Town Council has organised a whole host of activities to celebrate the Queen's 70th year as monarch.

A council spokesperson said: We are very much looking forward to celebrating the Queen's Jubilee and there will be many private events in the town.

"However, the following are community events supported by the Council.

"Let's all hope that the forecasters are right and we are in for a sunny Jubilee Bank Holiday."

Burnham-on-Crouch Jubilee Celebrations:

Thursday 2 June - 12 noon to 4pm

  • Essex Book Festival: Greenwood Words at the Burnham Baptist Church and
  • Children's activities along the Quay, such as crafts, storytelling and writing tables. 
  • Free event. 
  • All welcome.  

Thursday 2 - Sunday 5 June, from 1.30pm to 4.40pm

  • Burnham & District Museum Exhibition
  • Jubilee and Coronation celebrations from Burnham's past
  • £2 entry
  • Children under 16 free

Thursday 2 June - from 1pm

  • Official Proclamation by the War Memorial

Thursday 2 June - 9.30pm

  • The Queen's Official Beacon Light Switch-On
  • West Quay, Riverside Park
  • All welcome

Friday 3 June - 2pm to 5pm

  • Saint Mary's Church: Picnic on the Green
  • Live music, vintage cars, 40s and 50s style races and crafts for children

Saturday 4 June - 12 Noon

  • Ships Salute
  • Activity on the river

Saturday 4 June - 1pm to 4pm

  • Burnham Town Council: Bring your own picnic to Riverside Park and enjoy music from a live band.
  • Free ice creams for the children (subject to availability)
  • All welcome 

Sunday 5 June

  • Residents are encouraged to organise their own street parties
