Burnham-on-Crouch lifeboat station was on hand to assist the crew of a yacht that had run aground.

The alarm was raised just after 2pm on Saturday (3 September) by HM Coastguard who had been alerted to the 31 ft boat's quandary.

Two people were on board.

The Atlantic Class lifeboat Tony & Robert Britt was launched and proceeded to scene.

Upon arrival the incoming tide had refloated the casualty vessel and was at anchor. RNLI crew members went onboard the yacht to assist with lifting its anchor.

And its  crew appeared to be disorientated and therefore the RNLI helm decided to escort the casualty vessel to Barrow No. 5 buoy to pick up the channel where they were then able to make their own way back to Burnham under sail.
