A business in Burnham-on-Crouch is preparing to hold a huge Christmas fundraising event this month, which will raise money for different causes.

Bistro on the Quay is holding the event on Saturday 27 November, and will be unveiling its Giving Tree on the day.

There will be a Santa's grotto and reindeer alongside plenty of other entertainment.

Claire Payne, who runs the On the Quay businesses in Burnham, said staff are busy making the day "even more community-spirited" and are looking for nominations for someone, or a family, to turn on their Christmas lights.

Claire said: "We will have a postbox out the front of the Emporium On The Quay - which will be inside on bad weather days - for you to pop your nominations in to.

"If you have someone in mind, someone who deserves a lovely VIP evening, then make sure you give us their details."

The person or family chosen will get free mince pies or brownies alongside hot drinks for the evening, plus a decorated table inside the Bistro.

They must be available for the 7pm light switch on.

The Giving Tree also set to be unveiled on the day is being organised by the Bistro and Carlie Boler, the principal of Epic Dance, in aid of the children's Phoenix Ward at Broomfield Hospital.

Children who are staying at the ward will write small requests for gifts that they would like on tags, which will be added to the tree.

Residents can already drop off gifts at the restaurant for the children, which staff will wrap and label on delivery to the ward - Claire can arrange for collections locally.

Those who are not able to get out to the shops can donate to the Bistro's fundraiser here and organisers will purchase a gift on your behalf.

Examples of gifts you can donate - which must be new and sealed - include new unopened toys, games and toiletries.

If you have a specific member of staff you would like a gift sent to, you can include their details with your donation.

Donations will be delivered to the ward on Christmas Eve.

The Bistro is also auctioning off a signed Southend United football for Burnham street dance club Epic Dance and T.J. Needham - find out more and how to enter here.

All profits from the Christmas on the Quay day will be donated to charity.

You can find the Bistro's Facebook page here.
