A festival showcasing local talent in Burnham is set to return in full later this year, after being scaled down for the past two years due to Covid.

Organisers of the Burnham Art Trail said the event will be "back to normal this year", marking its 18th return to the town, after it was held virtually in 2020 and with scaled-down activities in 2021.

The trail is a festival spanning across two weekends at the end of June, which celebrates local creativity - including fine art painting, sculpture, photography and jewellery all within walking distance.

The art is displayed in venues across the town, with the Burnham Museum sitting at the heart of the trail.

Although the event moved online in 2020 to become the Armchair Art Trail, it saw its biggest volume of contributors yet - with over 60 artists involved.

Organisers held the trail in-person last year, while also running the Armchair Art Trail, but without many of the activities of previous years - including Art on the Quay, which involves art demonstrations and live music.

These activities are now set to return to the trail, with organisers confirming Art on the Quay will go ahead alongside Artists Open Studios and shops displaying "fabulous artists' work".

There will also be a taster wall of all the artists included in this year's trail, secret postcards and the opportunity to buy cards.

The trail will take place from 18 to 26 June, with Art on the Quay being held on 19 and 26 June.

There will be a launch event at the Burnham Museum on 17 June at 7pm.

Artists who would like to be considered for this year's trail must return the submission form by Sunday (13 February).

You can click here to get the guidance notes, image advice and submission form.

Submissions will be reviewed by the selection panel and applicants will be notified of the outcome by the end of March.

Admission to the trail is free.
