UPDATE (Sunday, February 19): Pictures show rescue operation underway as coastguard and firefighters pull man from mud in North Fambridge

A person has been pulled from the mud 60 metres (197 feet) off the coast of North Fambridge, South Woodham Coastguard Rescue Team has confirmed, this evening (February 18).

Three coastguard teams were supported by an Essex County Fire & Rescue Service crew in rescuing the person who got stuck just off Fambridge Yacht Haven.

A spokesperson for the South Woodham Coastguard Rescue Team confirmed the person had been rescued "in good health" and has urged others to be cautious when out on the mud.

Eyewitnesses spotted approximately seven emergency vehicles heading towards North Fambridge at around 6pm.

Essex County Fire & Rescue Service is set to provide more details when they become available.
