Areas in the Maldon district where Covid cases are rising the fastest

A new interactive Covid map published by the Government reveals the areas where infection rates have risen the most steeply in the Maldon district, as Omicron cases surge across the country.

The map from the Government shows the case rate per 100,000 people for the seven-day period up to Wednesday, 8 December.

The figures below are for Covid cases in general and are not broken down into variants.

Here's where the current figures stand:

Tollesbury, Tolleshunt and Goldhanger

Total cases: 48 (+10)

Up by 26.3 per cent from the previous week.

Case rate per 100,000 people is 738.8.

Burnham-on-Crouch

Total cases: 86 (+12)

Up by 16.2 per cent from the previous week.

Case rate per 100,000 people is 1,046.1.

Maldon North

Total cases: 30 (+4)

Up by 15.4 per cent from the previous week.

Case rate per 100,000 people is 433.6.

Maldon South

Total cases: 50 (+4)

Up by 8.7 per cent from the previous week.

Case rate per 100,000 people is 645.4.

Mayland, Althorne and Cold Norton

Total cases: 65 (+0)

0 per cent change from the previous week.

Case rate per 100,000 people is 607.1.

Heybridge

Total cases: 44 (-7)

Down by 13.7 per cent from the previous week.

Case rate per 100,000 people is 512.2.

Great Totham, Wickham Bishops and Woodham

Total cases: 39 (-22)

Down by 36.1 per cent from the previous week.

Case rate per 100,000 people is 519.7.

Southminster, Bradwell and Dengie Peninsula

Total cases: 51 (-41)

Down by 44.6 per cent from the previous week.

Case rate per 100,000 people is 553.4.

The Mid and South Essex Health Care Partnership (HCP) is appealing to residents to get vaccinated, as the booster programme ramps up across Essex.

Rachel Hearn, executive director for nursing and quality at the Mid and South Essex HCP, said: "We know we are in a race against time to step up our Covid vaccine programme and are working with colleagues across our partnership to create the capacity to deliver the booster programme.

"I would urge people to be patient with us as we increase availability and to use the information locally on the Essex Covid Vaccine website and via the NHS national booking site to get your jab and protect yourselves and your families."
