Burnham-on-Crouch Carnival: the event is set to make a return in September

THE Burnham-on-Crouch Carnival hopes to return on 25 September without the evening procession - but with plenty of fun still planned.

Carnival chairman Terry Martin explained: "After a very long meeting discussing what to do for this year's carnival it was decided that with the current guidance given by the government and the roadmap out of lockdown, we will start to organise the carnival DAY events and hope we can go ahead if restrictions let us.

"I know there will be concerns but we will only go ahead if the government and Maldon District Council (MDC) say we can."

However, the evening procession will not go ahead due to time, safety, Marshall, and a lack of carnival queens. There committee is also short of sufficient numbers of volunteers.

The daytime event will run from 10am until 9pm in the High Street.

Mr Martin added: "We have some acts already cornfirmed and are in talks with more.

"We are looking to try and get as many stalls and kids activities that we can to try and make a great day. We have also had confirmation the fair will be coming down as usual."

Anyone who would like to have a stall or offer any other help can contact Danny or Terry Martin using the Facebook profile at the link here.

More details will follow in the coming weeks.
