Police are appealing for information after a man was allegedly seen striking a dog with a shoe in Burnham.

The man was seen walking down Station Road at around 3.10pm on 28 January with a black dog, who he reportedly struck on the back with a shoe.

The dog is black with white markings on its nose and paws and a white line on its chest.

The man is described as white, in his 30s to early 40s, stocky with short hair and wearing a white top, black or grey tracksuit bottoms and black Lyle and Scott sliders.

He was seen heading from the top of Station Road near Burnham Bakery towards the Oyster Smack Inn and Tesco Express.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said: "We need anyone who saw anything or has any CCTV, dash cam, or doorbell footage to contact us."
