A new Covid-19 vaccination hub has opened at South Woodham Ferrers.

While councillors at last night's (Tuesday, 16 March) meeting of Burnham-on-Crouch Town Council expressed regret at not being able to establish a vaccine centre in the town itself, the new centre in Tyler's Ride, South Woodham Ferrers, will give some Dengie Peninsula residents a further option.

Speaking at the meeting, Councillor Wendy Stamp said: "It is sad that we weren't able to set a vaccination centre up in Burnham, though we did try."

The NHS announced this morning that those over 50 in England can now book their jab.

The South Woodham Ferrers Centre means there are now a total of 13 vaccine centres that have been opened by NHS across Essex.

An NHS spokesperson said: "I am delighted that another vaccination centre is opening in Essex.

"My thanks go out to the continued efforts and commitment of everyone supporting this programme."

Those attending must have booked an appointment first.
