Anyone struggling with connectivity and broadband issues in Burnham and across the Dengie has a chance to highlight the issue - and hopefully help to get something done to put the problem right.

Essex County Council (ECC) has launched a broadband survey to "better understand" the connectivity issues and broadband needs across the area.

The county is describing the survey as "vital...to establish the future broadband needs of residents and businesses" as what is uncovered in terms of problems and need will be taken into account in broadband rollouts - and bids for government funding.

Running until Monday, 19 April and launched by Superfast Essex, the council's broadband improvement programme, the survey invites residents and businesses to share information about their current broadband connectivity, including their provider and download speed, as well as what they use their connection for.

Superfast Essex is now exploring how to support the deployment of gigabit-capable networks, in line with the government's ambition for 85 per cent of homes and businesses to have access to ultrafast (gigabit-capable) broadband by 2025.

As part of this, the government has committed to investing £5 billion in the hardest to reach parts of the country, where commercial investment is not viable.
