Organisers of this year's Burnham-on-Crouch Carnival have confirmed a range of activities and stalls that are set to go ahead on the day, after last year's carnival was cancelled due to the pandemic.

The carnival is set to return on 25 September with a wide variety of entertainment beginning at 10am, including a tug of war, circus workshop, a fancy dress competition, a fire act and a carnival draw.

A spokesperson for the carnival said: "The planning is going well for this year's carnival.

"Unfortunately, the procession isn't happening but we have lots planned - with entertainment and stalls from 10am to 9.30pm."

The spokesperson added: "Some things still need finalising, but we are hoping that most things are in place."

Organisers made the decision to cancel the evening procession due to factors including time, safety, a lack of carnival queens and there being an insufficient number of volunteers on the committee.

Other acts to perform on the day include local dance groups Epic Dance and E and E Dance, juggler Steve Arnold and Graeme Matthews from Britain's Got Talent.

There will be fairytale princesses walking around and helping with the children's fancy dress competition at 1.45pm, which will take place at the Clock Tower.

From 6.30pm, there will be live music with Livy English, Craic Heads, Michael Joslin and T-Bone Steak all set to perform.

The spokesperson said: "We also hope to have a gaming van, Delorean, police dogs, Punch and Judy, face painting and lots more."

The event will run from 10am to 9.30pm on the High Street.
